How to recover a hacked or disabled Facebook account

19 Sep 2026 · 6 min read

Facebook account loss — hacked, disabled, or stuck in ID/2FA verification — is one of the most common and stressful problems online. Recovery is about proving ownership the way Facebook expects.

Try these first

  1. Go to facebook.com/hacked and follow the "My account is compromised" flow.
  2. Use "Get more help" / identity confirmation if password reset is blocked.
  3. Check your email for "security alert" messages — some contain a reverse-the-change link valid for a short time.

Build your ownership proof

Original email/phone at signup, a government ID matching the profile name, approximate signup date, and devices you've used all help. For business/ad accounts, Business Manager role history and billing records matter.

When it's stuck

When standard options are exhausted, careful, persistent escalation through the correct channels — not "hackers" promising instant recovery — is what works. We only ever help recover accounts you can show are your own.

You don't have to deal with this alone.
